PRECEDENCE PHENOMENON IN LANGUAGE AND MODERN COGNITIVE THEORY

Abstract. The article is aimed to determine to what extent the linguistic theory of precedence refers to modern cognitive paradigm and to reveal the premises of the theory under research formation and its peculiarities. Considering the existing cognitive science schools the author concludes that precedence studying must be realized within the limits of interdisciplinary linguo-cognitive approach using conceptual analysis and suggests conducting further precedence research basing on the data of the developing linguo-cultural theory. Studying precedence within the limits of cognitive science will promote understanding the character of the categorization and verbalization of precedent information.
