URBANISTIC STRATEGY IN DANIEL KEHLMANN’S NOVELS

Abstract. The article reveals the peculiarities of urbanistic strategy in the modern Austrian literature by the example of some novels by the popular writer Daniel Kehlmann. Special attention is paid to the distinctive characteristics of the novel "The Last Limit" as one of the most widely read works by this author. Among the key features of the contemporary German-language literature the author of the article singles out not only the reproduction of the urban environment of the modern man’s habitation, but the basic existential thought of the XX century about insurmountable human loneliness and existential crisis.
