PECULIARITIES OF QUEBEC LANGUAGE POLICY

Abstract. The article analyzes language policy and legislation in the Canadian province of Quebec. Main attention is paid to the functioning of French and English, the two official languages ??of Canada, and to the peculiarities of their use in the spheres of communication. The paper considers the process of Francization, which resulted in the fact that the French-speaking community of Quebec was able to bring back all the social functions that had previously belonged to the English language to their mother tongue, and to make French the only official language of the province.
