FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF MOTIVATION FOR STUDYING AT TECHNICAL HIGHER SCHOOL

Abstract. The article touches on the issues associated with motivation for studying in the spheres of technical knowledge at technical higher school. The paper presents the results of the anonymous survey of the first-year students of different technical specialities. It is shown that the dominating motives for the students were pre-university interest or abilities just for the technical sphere of knowledge and the prestigiousness of technical higher school or faculty, which is very important from the viewpoint of vocation and motivation for studying. The authors analyzed a number of factors influencing the growth of motivation for studying in the aspect of three pedagogical laws (according to L. S. Vygotsky) associated with three points: interest, orientation and practice in studying. These factors represent possible trends for the formation and development of motivation for studying at technical higher school.
