POLICY TO ATTRACT LABOUR FORCE TO ENTERPRISES OF COAL INDUSTRY OF POLAND IN THE 1940-1960S

Abstract. The article analyzes the main directions of policy to attract labour force to enterprises of coal industry in the 1940-1960s, which was carried out in the Polish People’s Republic. Problems with increasing coal mining at the end of the 1940s forced the state to resort to the use of forced labour and the introduction of overtime. All this led to social discontent growth and personnel shortage in the industry that was solved at the end of the 1950s by reorientation to material encouragement and raising the attractiveness of miner’s labor.
