Abstract. The article tackles the types of work with video materials. Special attention is paid to the formation of social-cultural competence and the author draws teachers' attention to fulfilling the following tasks: to use visual information, first of all, as the reason for working with the word; to draw students' attention to the behavioral peculiarities of the representatives of another culture and carry out inter-cultural comparison; to cultivate tolerance.
