LANGUAGE POTENTIAL OF EVENT IMAGE TRANSFORMATION IN NEWSPAPER TEXT (BY THE MATERIAL OF NIZHNII NOVGOROD PRINTED ISSUES)

Abstract. The article considers the question of correlation between reality and its image represented in a newspaper text. The reasons of differences between real events and their linguistic realization in the media are analyzed. Special attention is paid to distinguishing linguistic means that help the text sender transform the image of reality in accordance with his objectives. Basing on the analysis the conclusion about conscious distortion of reality in information reports in the media with the purpose of manipulative impact on a recipient is made.
