RUSSIAN NONVERBAL MEANS OF GRATITUDE (IN COMPARISON WITH CHINESE ONES)

U Bo
Lomonosov Moscow State University

Abstract. The article considers the Russian nonverbal means of gratitude in comparison with the Chinese ones. The author pays attention to the communicative gestures of etiquette, which ?? accompany the verbal indicators of gratitude in these languages. The comparative description of the mimetic gesture "smile" is given. It is mentioned that if the smile of the Russians performs communicative functions only in a few specific situations and, in particular, is not required for the expression of gratitude, then the smile of the Chinese is universal and acts as a symbol of politeness, even in such situations that normally do not imply a smile (according to the ideas of the Russians) as disagreement or apology.
