NOTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF LINGUO-CULTURAL CHARACTER TYPE "KUDAR"

Abstract. The author considers the notional characteristics of linguo-cultural character type "Kudar" basing on brief historical-geographical and political review and analysis of the definitions of lexeme "Kudar", and basing on the conducted research involving both scientific publications and Internet forums, states that the Kudar is the Ossetian, bearer of Ossetian language Kudar dialect. The etymology of the lexeme "Kudar" goes back to the self-designation of Scythian tribes "skuda" who lived within modern South Ossetia. As character type it was distinguished in the 90s during the migration of refugees from South Ossetia and Georgia to North Ossetia.
