CATEGORY OF POLITENESS AND VOCABULARY DESCRIBING IT

Abstract. The author describes the notions of politeness and polite behaviour by the material of the modern Russian language, as well as analyzes some lexical units belonging to the semantic field of these notions, reveals the features of politeness as the characteristics of human communicative behaviour, suggests the interpretation of the notion designating such behaviour, and shows that the analysis of words "politely", "polite", "politeness", which form the core of politeness semantic field, allows determining the semantic components that form this notion, as well as substantially complete the description of these units presented in modern dictionaries.
