POETICS OF NUMBERS IN LITERATURE OF THE FRENCH POSTMODERNISM BY THE EXAMPLE OF B. WERBER’S CREATIVE WORK

Abstract. The article is a cross-cultural study within the framework of text poetics, literary criticism, and the history of world culture. The significance of numerology in literature and in the culture of the world is determined, and its special role in literature of the French postmodernism is revealed. The deep symbolic significance of numbers from 0 to 6 is considered, taking into account their mythical, mystical and religious content. The semantic core of numbers in the world culture is revealed, as well as their location in the French postmodernism. The novels "The Empire of the Angels", "Us, Gods" of the modern French writer Bernard Werber are chosen as examples. The table presents the poetic and numerological conception of evolutionary development from the mineral to an angel, which is implemented in B. Werber’s creative work.
