USING MACHINE TRANSLATION AS A METHOD OF CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Abstract. The article is dedicated to the description of applying the potentials of the systems of computer or machine translation as an instrument of cross-cultural communication. The article presents a short survey of various methods of machine translation and gives arguments for the choice of conception of phraseological translation. The author analyzes linguistic phenomena making it difficult to get coherent text under machine translation. The paper also points out the significance of teaching machine translation as a way for developing linguistic, oral and socio-cultural competences.
