GENDER DIFFERENTIATION OF DISCURSIVE ELEMENTS AS THE INDICATORS OF POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EVALUATION

Avakova Marina Lazar'evna
Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University

Abstract. The article aims to study gender functioning of the discursive elements just’, ‘exactly’, ‘only’, ‘simply’, ‘really’, ‘quite’ in the interview discourse and in the dialogic speech of an artistic discourse. The author focuses on the means to emphasize and mitigate the positive and negative evaluation, to express self-evaluation. It is shown that discursive elements are the typical features of women’s verbal behaviour. The frequent use of discursive elements on emphasizing the negative evaluation and expressing self-evaluation in the women’s speech can indicate the tendency for the dominance of women in the verbal behaviour.
Key words and phrases: дискурсивные элементы, гендерные различия, мужское и женское речевое поведение, позитивная оценка, негативная оценка, самооценка, вежливость, нарушение вежливости, discursive elements, gender differences, men’s and women’s verbal behaviour, positive evaluation, negative evaluation, self-evaluation, politeness, violation of politeness
