CONCEPT "MONTH" IN THE TUVINIAN LANGUAGE: WINTER MONTHS

Abstract. The article discovers the meaning of the concept "month" in the context of the Tuvinians linguistic picture of the world carrying the information on the worldview and ethno-culture of the nation and identifies the basic lexical means expressing the names of a month period. Along with the generally excepted names of the winter months the author examines dialect words and colloquial forms, which were chosen from the dictionaries and textual materials of the Tuvinian language and recorded during dialectological expeditions. The author tried to clarify the ethnocultural semantics of the words included into the structure of months names.
