Fedorov Denis Andreevich
Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics

Abstract. The article examines the history of the development of ancient linguistic traditions in the framework of Hellenistic linguistics. The author focuses his attention on the views of representatives of two competitive schools: stoicism and Epicureanism. The problems of studying etymologies and developing the theory of glottogenesis in the Hellenistic period are of special interest in the article.
