MULTICULTURALISM AND POSTCOLONIAL THEMES IN LITERARY PROCESS. HISTORY AND CREATIVE WORK - MAIN THEMES OF THE ENGLISH MULTICULTURAL NOVEL

Abstract. The article takes up some debatable questions of multicultural and postcolonial literature. By the material of the novel by J. M. Coetzee and S. A. Rushdie the main themes of postcolonial discourse such as the presentation of historical events in creative work, the relativity of history, the relationship of native and foreign cultures, the problem of "histirical guilt", creative personality’s mission in crucial epoch are considered. The author gives the special attention to the themes of the English language multicultural novel.
