THE MAIN TENDENCIES IN EDUCATION CONTENT AT AMERICAN SCHOOLS AT THE END OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY

Abstract. The article describes the main tendencies of educational process of the USA schools at the end of the XIX century. The authors note that increased state control, growth of financial support, entering of laws on compulsory education into force led to the fact that by the middle of the XIX century public schools expanded the number and types of subjects, which were introduced into the list of obligatory disciplines. At the same time extension of education content demanded the introduction of new teaching methods, for example, the principle of using visual aids.
