Abstract. The research is devoted to the current state of the most western dialect of the Buryat language - Nizhneudinsk one. Forwarding notes, received for the first time in the last forty years, made it possible to track changes in the phonetics of the dialect under study, as well as to analyze the linguistic situation. The analysis of the material shows a decrease in the level of the dialect mastering, especially among young people. Characteristic phonetic features of the dialect are preserved in the speech of the contemporary speakers, but an overall decrease in the native language mastering, as well as the influence of other dialects have led to a weakening of some pronunciation rules.
Key words and phrases: нижнеудинский говор бурятского языка, языковая ситуация, диалектизмы, диалектная фонетика, вокализм, консонантизм, Nizhneudinsk dialect of the Buryat language, linguistic situation, dialecticisms, dialect phonetics, vocalism, consonantism
