"PILGRIMAGE PLOT" IN D. A. SKALON’S BOOK "JOURNEY TO THE EAST AND THE HOLY LAND IN THE RETINUE OF THE GRAND DUKE NIKOLAI NIKOLAEVICH IN 1872"

Abstract. The article by the material of the book by D. A. Skalon "Journey to the East and the Holy Land in the Retinue of the Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich in 1872" examines the singularity of the pilgrimage text plot. The reference point in the understanding of the plot is A. J. Greimas’s conception, in which the narrative is understood as a "meditation" on the state of the world order of "accepted" or "rejected". A pilgrimage is considered as a work in which the author offers the strong ideas of humanization of the world and salvation (soteriology). The plot in such works seems multilevel, connecting domestic and existential.
