THE SUBJECT MATTER OF STUDYING THE LINGUISTIC CATEGORY OF PROMINENCE IN LINGUISTICS

Abstract. The article examines the theoretical questions of the linguistic category of prominence, particularly, various approaches to the examination of this linguistic fact, the variety of its interpretations in the scientific literature, the areas of realization and difficulties, connected with the studying of this linguistic phenomenon, are illustrated. Besides, possible directions of its further examination are denoted.
