THE ARCHETYPES OF INFERNAL WORLD (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE INFERNAL ARCHETYPE "DEMON" IN THE NOVEL BY CH. R. MATURIN "MELMOTH THE WANDERER")

Abstract. The article is in keeping with topical interdisciplinary problems of contemporary cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology and literary criticism, connected with the study of implementation of archetypes of infernal world in fiction, which acquire additional connotations in the process of diffusion of the archetypical and the historical in culture and are presented in the form of complex cognitive constructs. In the paper the author sets the goal to reveal the structure of the infernal archetype "Demon" by the example of the novel by Ch. R. Maturin "Melmoth the Wanderer" and to reveal the dominant symbols of archetypical meaning of this archetype based on the analysis of classifiers of a cognitive matrix.
