ABBREVIATION AS THE MANIFESTATION OF THE LAW OF ECONOMY IN PROFESSIONAL LANGUAGES

Abstract. The aim of the article is to show the differences of professional abbreviation from usual abbreviation and it is done by the material of the Russian and English languages in a number of professional institutes: forestry, medicine, politics of transport, the art of photography and some others. It is revealed that the principal pragmalinguistic causes for abbreviations in the professional communication are: economy, emphasis and elimination of communication. The structural types of studied abbreviations include the initial, graphic and combined ones. It is shown that abbreviations in the professional languages are the productive basis for a number of word-formative processes: word-formation, compounding and conversion.
