THE PRINCIPLES OF "RECONSTRUCTION" OF FICTIONAL LANGUAGES (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE QUENYA LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS)

Levshunov Nikolai Dmitrievich
Lomonosov Moscow State University

Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the principles of "reconstruction" of artificial author’s languages and the problems the authors could face in the process of construction of their systems of artificial languages. The author draws attention to the incomplete nature of levels of such languages, and considers the philosophical foundations and basic principles of the authors of the textbooks (especially, "The Quenya Courses" by Th. Renk, S. M. Pechkin, N. Martch and H. K Fauskanger) on the Quenya language created by J. R. R. Tolkien in order to complete primarily its grammatical and lexical systems by the method of linguistic reconstruction, developed and actively used in the comparative-historical linguistics. The issues relating to the applicability of the notions "reconstruction" and "codification" regarding fictional languages are also studied in the article.
