ARTISTIC BILINGUALISM IN THE CREATIVE WORK OF SHARLOTTE BRONTE BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE NOVEL "JANE EYRE"

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the pragmatic functions performed by code switching in the speech of bilingual characters in the creative work of the English poetess and novelist Charlotte Bronte by the example of the novel "Jane Eyre". The notion "artistic bilingualism" is considered. The peculiarity of the functioning of French lexical units in the English text is analyzed. The interconnection of the parameters of the bilinguality of the characters in the novel and the pragmatic peculiarities of code switching (English-French) in their statements is revealed with the aim of determining the writer’s artistic intention.
