Dagestan State University

Abstract. The article investigates the peculiarities of the national character of culture in the different languages: English and Lak. The article discusses the feature of the concept "joy" and their lexical expression. The authors conclude that the linguistic pictures of the world of the English and Lak languages ??are similar, emotions are basic in both cultures, but the conceptual construct for emotions description of English is richer than that of Lak. This demonstrates the ability of the British to represent emotions more differentially than the Lak people do, as in Lak there is no such diversity of synonyms to nominate various shades of emotions.
