Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of philological study of the film adaptation/ screening of an English-language literary text by the example of the work by William Golding "Lord of the Flies". In the course of studying the theory of screening has been studied. Special attention is paid to such periods as the 60s in England and the 90s in America, as it was time the films under investigation were created. Then, based on the examined theory the authors analyzed the peculiarities of two screen versions in terms of correspondence to the literary original.
