MAGICAL PROPERTIES OF A WORD AND THEIR REPRESENTATION IN THE INDO-EUROPEAN LANGUAGES

Abstract. The article is devoted to the representation of fideistic ideas about the name in the Indo-European languages. The author focuses not on the culturological, but on the linguistic aspect of the problem, the origin of words and vocabulary material. This is the novelty of the research. The results of the work allow proposing that words always had a special status in the cultures of various peoples - in many languages belief in the ability of the name to change the reality and to affect superior forces, one’s own or someone else’s destiny is represented.
