Abstract. The article provides an analysis of the bilingual dictionaries’ micro-structure. The author examines the alphabetical and semantic approaches to corpus arrangement with a view to discover how the dictionary type predetermines the choice of a certain approach. The paper identifies the immediate dependence between the method of dictionary’s micro-structure arrangement and lexicographical tasks and concludes that the majority of compilers use the initial-alphabetical approach to corpus arrangement and in case of semantic approach they supplement the dictionary with an alphabetical index.
