THE ROLE OF PRECEDENT TEXTS IN REPRESENTING VALUE ORIENTATIONS IN MODERN MASS MEDIA TEXTS

Abstract. The article considers precedent texts from the viewpoint of their potential to represent value orientations of media discourse participants: journalists and their audience. The research is based on the texts of the Astrakhan print media: newspapers "Fakt i Kompromat" ("Fact and Compromising Evidence"), "Volga", "Astrakhanskie Vedomosti" ("Astrakhan Bulletin"). Analysis of newspaper material allowed the author to justify certain provisions of regional linguistics, in particular, the conclusion that specific linguistic units can represent values and purposes of a group of people residing on the same territory.
