SUBSTANTIVIZATION IN THE RUSSIAN AND CHINESE LANGUAGES: SIMILARITY AND DIFFERENCE

Wang Yang
Yangzhou University

Abstract. The article examines substantivization as a process of transfer of different parts of speech into the category of nouns (by the material of the Russian and Chinese languages). The author points out that in the Russian language substantivization comes out, first of all, as morphological-syntactical means of word-formation, and in the Chinese language syntax plays an important role in the process of substantivization; substantivization is explained as a substitution of syntactic function. Relying on the research findings the author identifies the similarities and differences of substantivization in the Russian and Chinese languages.
