CLASSIFICATION OF COMPOUND ADJECTIVES ON THE TYPE OF MOTIVATION (BY THE EXAMPLE OF AVIATION ENGLISH)

Abstract. The article considers compound adjectives of aviation English. The author introduces the classification of compound adjectives on the type of motivation and identifies motivated, partially motivated and unmotivated compound adjectives. The paper analyzes phonetically and morphologically motivated compound adjectives, provides the examples of semantically and metaphorically motivated compound adjectives, identifies compound adjectives which are widely used in aviation English. Word combinations with compound adjectives are also under study.
