SPECIFICITY OF ALLITERATION AND SOUND REPETITION IN EMILY DICKINSON’S POETRY

Abstract. The article is devoted to the functioning of alliteration and sound repetition as a poetic technique in the poetry by Emily Dickinson, the prominent poet of American Romanticism. The work gives examples of the most frequent alliterations analyzed on the basis of organizational and structural principle. Having analyzed various types of alliteration the author of the article proposes a classification of alliterations, determining Emily Dickinson’s individual writing style.
