NATIONAL FEATURES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF EYE GESTURE "EYE CONTACT"

Abstract. The article presents the results of studying the functioning of the eye gesture "eye contact" in the Russian, English, Chinese cultures, taking into account the gender type of culture, the type of situation, the gender type of communication, and the social status of communicants. The main attention is paid to the identification of linguocultural meanings expressed by the eye gesture "eye contact". It is found that the social and communicative role of the eyes is most clearly manifested while revealing the peculiarities of using the gesture "eye contact".
