Wu Meng
Tambov State University named after G. R. Derzhavin

Abstract. The article analyzes the relevant problem of relation between language and thinking on the basis of the concept "linguistic worldview" within the cognitive approach. The paper aims to show the evolution of the Russian linguistic worldview by the analysis of the key linguistic worldview concepts represented in the explanatory dictionaries. Lexicographical definitions serve as the linguistic material representing the evolution of Russian linguistic worldview over the centuries. Lexicographical definition method allows the author to identify the changes of word’s thematic-conceptual meaning. As an example the author chooses the concept GOOD which is the basic one in the Russian worldview. The researcher compares explanatory component and illustrative component of the lexeme "good" in the well-known Russian explanatory dictionaries. The paper analyzes the changes represented in the lexical entries over a period of more than 200 years and argues that the concept GOOD in the national worldview has a tendency to evolve, and this evolution is represented in the Russian explanatory dictionaries of different periods.
