LINGUO-SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL PRACTICE "GOING TO THE FOOTBALL GAME" IN THE SPACE OF AMERICAN UNIVERSITY DISCOURSE

Abstract. The article considers ritualized everyday practices in the space of American university discourse and identifies the functions of certain rituals for maintaining university’s corporate spirit by the example of Texas A&M University-College Station. The authors focus on describing the essence of a concrete ritual "going to the football game" which forms the ideological basis of this university. In this context the paper analyzes the during-stage and after-stage of this social practice.
