ENGLISH LOANWORDS IN SPORTS VOCABULARY OF THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article deals with the issues of borrowing vocabulary in the sphere of sport from English into Russian, in particular, the lexico-semantic analysis of the sports terms of English origin is conducted, and the reasons for the appearance of anglicisms in the sports vocabulary are identified. It is noted that loanwords are one of the ways to enrich the vocabulary of the language. The greatest number of anglicisms can be observed in the sports vocabulary. Anglicisms are divided into mastered, semi-mastered and unmastered.
