THE IMAGE OF THE FLAG IN A. BLOK’S POEM "THE TWELVE" IN THE ASPECT OF THE APOCALYPTIC COLOUR SYMBOLISM

Abstract. The article deals with the intertextual, contextual and metatextual aspects of the flag image in A. Blok’s poem "The Twelve". The polysemy of the flag image is revealed through the apocalyptic symbolism of colour, which makes it possible to introduce the semantic clarifications into the interpretation of the finale of the work. The contrast of red and white forms the antinomy of sin and purification as the mysterial essence of the revolution in the artistic understanding of the poet.
