HISTORICAL WAY OF THE ENGLISH ANTHROPONYMS DEVELOPMENT

Abstract. This article examines the historical development of the English personal names and surnames - anthroponyms. Particular attention is paid to the origin of anthroponyms, peculiarities of formation, and various historical processes that directly influenced their formation at important stages of history. The article presents the most common personal names and surnames in different historical periods. The relevance of the article is determined by the fact that morphological and semantic tendencies in the language are represented in anthroponyms, which allows tracing the linguistic facts in their direct functioning.
