THE LINGUOCULTURAL TYPE "A SCOTSMAN": TRANSLATION ASPECT (BY THE MATERIAL OF I. RANKIN’S WORKS AND THEIR TRANSLATIONS IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The article deals with the process of reconstruction of the linguocultural type "a Scotsman" in the Russian language. The purpose of the research is to analyze the transformations used in the reconstruction of this type in the English-Russian translations of I. Rankin’s novels. It is concluded that the following types of translation transformation are used to reconstruct the type "a Scotsman" by the material of the Russian language: transposition, adaptation, literal translation, modulation, addition, equivalence, omission, borrowing, metatext, and loan translation.
