ON ABESSIVE CASE IN THE HILL MARI LANGUAGE

Abstract. The study focuses on the abessive case in the Hill Mari language; it is examined in the context of different word forms with the abessive element and in comparison with similar phenomena in other Finno-Ugric and Turkic (Chuvash and Tatar) languages. The paper analyzes in detail the history of studying the problem of abessive formant (indicator) -де. The authors for the first time consider the adopted in the domestic and foreign linguistics approaches to studying Hill Mari abessive case from the viewpoint of their relevance and potentials to prove the uniqueness of the Hill Mari language in terms of abessive form representation.
