Abstract. The article considers the main text characteristics of a tabloid media text, as well as categories of sensationalism as one of the key and genre-forming categories of a modern tabloid. Based on the analysis of the English-language tabloid media text the authors demonstrate how the category of sensationalism is formed at various levels of the text, and is also consistently implemented at the level of the headline and in the main text through a number of speech and textual means.
