STRUCTURAL-SEMANTIC PECULIARITIES OF THE KARACHAY-BALKAR TOPONYMS WITH THE ZOONYMIC BASIS

Abstract. The article considers the Karachay-Balkar one-word and two-word toponyms with the zoonymic basis, which are analyzed from the aspect of structure, semantics and grammatical features. The linguistic analysis reveals that one-word toponyms are non-derivative and derivative. Non-derivatives refer directly to an object, and derivatives are formed by different affixes that characterize the toponym from different points of view. Two-word toponyms are different word combinations of nominal and verbal types, which are combined into certain models.
