Abstract. The article discusses the cognitive bases of polydiscursivity in the Internet memes. The novelty of the study is in the fact that for the first time an Internet meme is analysed as a polydiscursive space, in which several discourses interact at the cognitive level. The relevance of the research is conditioned by the need to study polydiscursivity by the example of the Internet memes with the aim of deeper understanding of the discursive nature of these units. The analysis of the modern Internet memes has shown that polydiscursivity, which is the presence of several discourses in one text, is embodied vividly in the Internet memes and is conditioned by their polymodal form and genre originality.
