RELATIVE ADJECTIVES REPLENISHMENT IN THE TATAR LANGUAGE: NEW UNITS WITH THE AFFIX -ЧЫЛ/-ЧЕЛ

Abstract. Language contacts are an important cause of lexical changes, and in some cases, regular borrowing processes have a significant impact on the typological characteristics of a language. Numerous direct borrowings of relative adjectives from the Eastern and European languages or various methods of their calquing conditioned the formation of the lexico-grammatical class of relative adjectives in the Turkic languages. According to corpus data, in the modern Tatar language there are many relative adjectives not recorded in dictionaries, formed according to different word-formation models. The article describes the permanent process of the replenishment of the class of relative adjectives by the material of new units with the affix -чыл/-чел . The semantics and frequency of using such units are studied basing on the data of the Tatar national corpus " Туган тел ".
