Abstract. The article is devoted to analyzing the system of the modern Serbian kinship - legal kinship terms (300 units) acquired by continuous sampling from the dictionaries of the modern Serbian language and literary works of the Serbian authors. The study focuses on identifying the universal and culturally specific features of kinship terms within the linguo-cultural and linguo-cognitive description. The research material includes lexical and paroemiological units of the modern Serbian literary language, the sociolinguistic survey of which is also presented in the paper.
