THE LINGUISTIC REPRESENTATION OF THE TRADITIONAL IMAGE OF GEISHA IN THE AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL NOVEL "GEISHA OF GION" BY MINEKO IWASAKI

Abstract. The article is devoted to the identification of the English linguistic units representing the national way of life of the Japanese society, the life values of geishas. The paper analyzes the transformations of lexical units of the Japanese language in the rendering of gender-determined lexical units and grammatical constructions of the English language in the English discourse, which are characteristic for the speech of representatives of the Japanese ethnic group. The author examines the clash of worldviews of representatives of the Western and Eastern countries, the linguistic representation of cultural differences.
