Abstract. The article examines the problem of interpretation and translation of Islamic intertextual inclusions. By the material of the novel "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini the author identifies Islamic intertextual inclusions and their sources, describes functional peculiarities of intertextual relations, analyzes the techniques to render them into Russian. The researcher concludes that Islamic intertextual inclusions bear functional and axiological load and require translator’s socio-cultural competence.
