Abstract. The article examines the intertextuality of the novel of Peter Ackroyd "The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein". The use of citations, allusions, reminiscences creates the basis of the text and at the same time characterizes the heroes, enables to break the existing standard image. The writer comments on and examines the creativity of his own characters, using the intertextual links in the novel. This happens consistently with the action in the novel, which makes it possible to view the characters in the established cultural paradigm. As a result, the structure of Peter Ackroyd’s novel becomes open and allows for a huge number of interpretations.
