THE US MILITARY SUBCULTURE SYSTEM OF VALUES REPRESENTED THROUGH SIGNS OF LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

Abstract. This paper describes the axiological reference system of the US military subculture, verbalized through signs of language and culture. This research is aimed to imprint linguo-cultural artifacts of the military idiom ambience that make the bulk of ethos of an American serviceman. It concludes that such linguistic means and forms, representing basic components of the GI axiological system of values, include social dialect lexical units, phraseological locutions, military cadence calls, recruiting slogans, military units’ mottos, clich?s, army toasts, texts of the precedent genre (anecdotes), etc. The paper is addressed to philologists and broad audience.
