Abstract. Within the framework of the Russian folklore studies the authors of the article study the poetics of the Karachay-Balkar everyday fairy tale. Among the key expressive means they single out and examine such categories as epithet, metaphor, comparison, personification, antithesis, repetition with their highland ethno-cultural refraction. The parable beginning, didacticism is another feature of an everyday fairy tale, where the subtext contains a lot of moral lessons. The paper describes the character of the evolutionary movement of the highland everyday fairy tale from the magic plot to the "pure" realism without the admixture of magic elements. A distinctive feature of the newest social and everyday fairy tales that have been influenced by the ideology of the European Enlightenment is the cult of reason that determines the structural and content peculiarity of folklore texts.
